Children Canteen
Kandisi, Kenya
Kandisi is a small village situated 25 km from Nairobi, Kenya. The school Holy Spirit Catholic Church, is directed by the organisation Don Orione Institute, and it welcomes more than 80 children, especially orphans and children with disabilities.
The centre offers complete daily meal plans, education, and medical assistant to the children with the collaboration of Need You International.
The canteen operates with 500 euros a month in order to give a full free daily meal to all the children of the school.
The young student’s families often need to survive with only 2 euros a month. Meanwhile, the majority of the families live far away from the village, in the middle of the savannah, and the children need to walk a long way before arriving to school. At the Canteen, the children receive rice and beans, which unfortunately is often their only meal in all the day.
