Food Project

Bukavo, Democratic Republic of Congo

The Food Project feeds daily more than 250 children and with €7,20 a child eats for a month.

Need You International collaborates with the Franciscan School of Bukavo, Democratic Republic of Congo, in order to give one free daily meal to the children of the school and surrounding area.

The project was started due to the ongoing conflict inside the Democratic Republic of Congo that led the students of the school to forcibly leave their homes and flee to refugees camps in Burundi. If you want to contribute and help the people of Bukavu and its surrounding area (e.g., Kamanyola) in this extremely difficult and dangerous moment please contact us at info@needyouinternational.org

The meal is given from Monday to Friday, but every Monday double ratio is given as on Saturday and Sunday many of the children are unable to eat.

The project feeds more than 250 children with a total cost of €1.800 a month.

We work together with the nuns of the Franciscan order to ensure all the children of the project are taken care of.

We help serving rice and beans to all children from 6 to 12 years old.

Meanwhile, for the children from 4 to 6 years old we serve a traditional meal called Mussalack, made by milk and flour that is rich in vitamins and carbohydrates.

If you want to participate in the project, contact us at info@needyouinternational.org or visit our donate page, thank you for your support!
